Shelley by Harry H Hudson

4-piece Sterling Silver Buckle Set

The Shelley 4-piece buckle set was designed by Harry H. Hudson, renowned collector of western memorabilia. It is hand fabricated from Solid Sterling Silver and is hand engraved with a sterling silver twisted rope edge. The buckle shape was inspired by a shape often used by Harry’s friend and saddle maker in Magdalena, New Mexico, Hoot Hart. In addition to making saddles, belts, and other leather accessories, Hoot hand makes buckle sets out of brass. But, only three piece sets. Hoot told Harry that he didn’t need a tip on this belt, but Harry has his own ideas.

This buckle has a 1″ (25mm) opening and is designed to be mounted on a ranger belt, in classic western fashion.

About Harry H. Hudson

Harry H. Hudson is a collector and connoisseur of western buckles and an acknowledged authority on the history of western silversmiths and their work. His fascination with western buckles began with his boyhood in Texas and memories of a khaki-clad cowman whose only concession to conceit was the silver buckle that bore his cattle brand in gold. He successfully sold fine buckles, commissioned according to his own designs, at his Two Moons Trading Company in Dallas from 1984 to 2002.

Harry’s passion for perfection is reflected in the distinctive designs and exceptional craftsmanship seen in his buckle collection. Meticulous attention is given to every detail, from selection of highest-quality materials and mountings to the intricate hand-engraving and hand-overlaying. Hallmarks, including individual serial numbers, are hand-struck on each buckle in the classic tradition, attesting to the unique quality and  character of each piece.

Investing in a Harry H. Hudson buckle is a tip-of-the-hat to the deep character of American Western tradition.
