Mokume-gane & Sterling Silver Fusion 2-piece Belt Buckle Set

The unique, hand-crafted Fusion - San Francisco 2-piece belt buckle set is part of Neil's Fusion Series for the obvious fusing of metals, but also for the more subtle fusion of East and West, classic and traditional, complex and elegant. Neil hand-crafted each of these buckles (and sets) from metal plate, bar, and wire - and each is uniquely sculpted. The Fusion - San Francisco belt buckle set is true wearable art, and makes a great gift for graduation, retirement, and more.

The Fusion - San Francisco is a classy, hand-crafted 2-piece set with sterling silver edges. Mokume-gane (Japanese for "wood grained metals") is a type of Japanese married metal made from diffusion bonded laminates often used in decorating swords, in this case consisting of nickel silver, brass, and copper.

This simple and dressy 2-piece set is a classy statement on any straight or ranger belt strap. With the copper and brass color in the Mokume-gane this buckle looks amazing on blue-jeans! It is substantial without being too heavy, and the Mokume-gane is 1/8" thick.

About The Fusion Series

Fusion Series

Neil has always enjoyed combining different metals in his buckles, and has recently gone “all-the-way” with his fusion of styles, materials, influences, inspirations, and aspirations. This series of unique, hand-crafted buckles (and some sets) is inspired from aesthetics as varied as Japanese and Scandinavian to Western and South-West Indian designs.

The mosaics of this fusion of metals is especially intriguing as Neil incorporates not only Mokume-gane, which itself is a married metal, he then adds sterling silver and sometimes brass, gold, and shakudo. Mokume-gane is Japanese for “wood grained metals”, which is a metal made from diffusion bonded laminates. Shakudo is a Japanese alloy formulated for a special patina. Both of these Japanese metals are commonly used in decorating swords.

We called them The Fusion Series because of the obvious fusing of metals, but also for the more subtle fusion of East and West, classic and traditional, complex and elegant. Neil hand-crafted each of these pieces from metal plate, bar, and wire – and each is uniquely sculpted. They are true wearable art, and make great gifts for retirement, graduation, and more.
