Mokume-gane & Sterling Silver Fusion Belt Buckle
The contemporary looking, hand-crafted Fusion - Oslo belt buckle is part of Neil's Fusion Series for the obvious fusing of metals, but also for the more subtle fusion of East and West, classic and traditional, complex and elegant. Neil hand-crafted each of these buckles (and sets) from metal plate, bar, and wire - and each is uniquely sculpted. The Fusion - Oslo belt buckle is true wearable art, and makes a great gift for graduation, retirement, and more.
Neil enjoys experimenting with different kinds of Mokume-gane. The Fusion - Oslo is an unusual, hand-crafted belt buckle made from sterling silver and Mokume-gane (Japanese for "wood grained metals"). This is a type of Japanese married metal made from diffusion bonded laminates often used in decorating swords, in this case consisting of nickel silver, brass, and copper.
This clean lines of this buckle makes a classy statement on any straight belt strap, but it is especially attractive on a tan or brown strap on blue-jeans. It is substantial without being too heavy.

About The Fusion Series
Fusion Series
Neil has always enjoyed combining different metals in his buckles, and has recently gone “all-the-way” with his fusion of styles, materials, influences, inspirations, and aspirations. This series of unique, hand-crafted buckles (and some sets) is inspired from aesthetics as varied as Japanese and Scandinavian to Western and South-West Indian designs.
The mosaics of this fusion of metals is especially intriguing as Neil incorporates not only Mokume-gane, which itself is a married metal, he then adds sterling silver and sometimes brass, gold, and shakudo. Mokume-gane is Japanese for “wood grained metals”, which is a metal made from diffusion bonded laminates. Shakudo is a Japanese alloy formulated for a special patina. Both of these Japanese metals are commonly used in decorating swords.
We called them The Fusion Series because of the obvious fusing of metals, but also for the more subtle fusion of East and West, classic and traditional, complex and elegant. Neil hand-crafted each of these pieces from metal plate, bar, and wire – and each is uniquely sculpted. They are true wearable art, and make great gifts for retirement, graduation, and more.
